Hybrid Subscription: What It Is and How It Works

Have you ever heard of hybrid subscription? This tool brings enormous ease and flexibility to business. This happens by integrating different forms of signature validation.

In order to provide agility to workflows, without compromising the integrity of information and legal reliability, the hybrid signature adapts to the needs of your business.

This model offers versatility and integration with customers who use different types of electronic signatures. Thus, it is able to optimize internal and external processes.

Understand how it works and how hybrid signing is responsible for offering greater control, compliance, and simplicity to the business.

What is hybrid subscription?

Basically, this type of alternative makes it possible for the company not to have to choose or manage multiple documents for different types of signature. Easily adjust the dignitaries and accepted signature types, all in a single file.

In other words, different people can sign the same document using different types of signatures. A member of the negotiation uses his digital signature, while others perform the eletronic signature via token, for example.

As long as they meet certain requirements, both digital and electronic signatures are legally valid in the country. The hybrid model takes advantage of this feature, while offering safety and practicality.

The functionality is ideal for processes that require different forms of validation and signature, simplifying document management. Understand more about this subject.

How does this subscription model work within the processes?

In electronic documents, hybrid signing provides the opportunity for signers with different capabilities or preferences to sign the same document electronically.

This type of configuration ensures greater inclusivity and flexibility. In addition, of course, to simplifying the act of signing documents, making it accessible and fast.

In practice, the use of this functionality lacks a good document management system. On the platform, the accepted signature models are defined, allowing the signer to choose the signature that is most convenient for him/her.

The solution is responsible for registering the signatures and linking them to the document, and later offering the file with all the signatures that have been collected, making it available for the proper purposes for which it is intended.

The hybrid subscription in Fusion Platform

Fusion Platform is a platform for managing documents, processes, indicators, risks, and electronic signature. By adding signatures to document management, the entire flow of activities and processes benefits and becomes more efficient.

There are currently two types of signatures in the Fusion Platform: digital and electronic. The first is a specific type that uses cryptography to ensure the authenticity and integrity of the document, to be valid, it requires a digital certificate, acquired through a Certification Authority.

The electronic signature, on the other hand, consists of any electronic method used to verify the authenticity of a person and their intention to sign. In order for it to be legally accepted, it must meet some basic requirements such as:

  • Consent of the parties: both must agree to its use;
  • Linking to the subscriber: clearly identifying who signed, by methods such as login, biometrics or unique code;
  • Integrity guarantee: document cannot be changed after signing;
  • Signature checker;
  • Process log: date, time, IP and other signature details;
  • Data protection: follow the LGPD, ensuring the confidentiality of information.

The most interesting thing is that as of version 4.0.2, Fusion provides the opportunity for hybrid signatures to be natively accepted. That is, in the file settings, the responsible user can define that electronic and digital signatures will be equally accepted in the same file.

Setting Up Subscriptions in Fusion Platform

Setting up the accepted subscription templates is very simple. The process starts with the configuration of the subscription options. This is done in the “File” field.

In short, it is at this stage that the user defines that people will be able to sign, in the same document, digitally and electronically.

The signature continues to be classified as electronic, since this is the original configuration of the field. For this reason, the option to sign will be available in the actions arrow in the “Electronic Signature” section.

Also, it is important to note that the configured signatures will have their format maintained. In other words, digital signatures continue to be performed digitally, following the same process applied to fields configured exclusively for digital signatures, while electronic signatures follow the flow defined for this type of signature.

As these are documents with a hybrid signature, the file goes through an extra step of confirming information, validating the data informed before completion.

Thus, the configuration happens as follows:

Digital signature

For digital signatures, the signer must have their certificate already configured.

The Fusion Platform user responsible for collecting the signatures must configure the form or documents. Once the setup is finalized, you can digitally sign the files.

To do this, just click on “Sign” and Fusion Signer will open. Select the corresponding certificate and follow the signing process. Once it is finalized, the signed file will be generated.

Electronic signature

For this signature, there is also the need to configure the file in advance. Before signing, you must save the activity or document so that the “Sign” or “Configure Signers” option is enabled for use.

In this type of signature, it will be necessary to confirm the electronic signature information through a token. After receiving the confirmation code, click on “Confirm signature” so that the file is properly signed.

The process will only be sent or the document published when all signatories have signed them. The document will have the hash and signature protocol when the process is complete and the document published

Download the signed document

Once all signers have signed the document, they can download or send it to  Fusion Platform Document Management.

Documents signed only with a digital signature generate files with a protocol indicating that they were digitally signed.  As said, electronic signatures will have hashed files and signature protocol.

In the case of hybrid signatures, two files are generated, one with a hash and signature protocol, the other in PAdES format, which will contain the same hash as the electronic signature protocol.

Hybrid Signing and Enterprise Agility

As you can see, Fusion Platform’s hybrid signature is a significant step forward in how your company handles electronic documents. This alternative is a practical, flexible and secure solution, with full legal support.

The new functionality reduces bureaucracy and ensures greater agility in workflows. Consequently, the entire corporation becomes more efficient, practical and productive. This is a way to ensure authenticity and a more fluid and accessible experience for customers and employees.

Take this important step towards the digital transformation of your business. Request a demo for the Fusion Platform and enjoy the best benefits of hybrid subscription.
